On our first date,

a door opened to starched Wranglers,

a dozen red roses,

a smile that met laughter.

Our first words weren’t words at all—

and somehow, that was the best beginning.

We told ourselves it was just companionship,

because our worlds seemed too far apart.

But God has a way of pulling souls together.

In the quiet that followed,

we wrote to each other—

letter after letter,

page after page—

learning each other’s hearts in ink

before we ever spoke them aloud.

And somewhere in those words,

we found a rhythm

that felt like forever.

So we let go of reason,

of fear,

of all the ways this shouldn’t work.

We were wildly unsure

and unwaveringly certain

all at once.

Now love is our language,

spoken in the small things—

the way Micah and Maddox

have found in him a steady hand,

the way his dog guards her steps,

the way laughter, warmth, and ease

fill our days

like a promise we never stop keeping.

And when we say “I love you,”

it is never routine.

It is everything—

a reminder that God’s timing is perfect,

and that once-in-a-lifetime love

often arrives when you least expect it.

And so, with grateful hearts,

we will stand before our family and friends,

surrounded by the sea,

and say “I do”

to every tomorrow

that waits ahead.
